The Department of Energy announced September 30 that it would provide $100 million to support Energy Frontier Research Centers. Provided with five-year funding in 2009, the 46 centers designed to research energy production and use are now eligible to apply for a second round of funding. Award sizes are estimated to range between $2 and $4 million per year for five years. Letters of intent will be accepted through November 13, full applications are due January 9, and awards will be announced next June.
