Despite only being laid before Parliament in early September 2010, from 1 October 2010, the scheme of self-certifying building works is expanding. The expanse of the scheme affects areas such as the installation of microgeneration and other renewable energy technologies, the replacement of doors and windows in dwellings and the installation of cavity wall insulation. The swift, but welcome expansion should promote the reduction of CO2 emissions making buildings greener, whilst also cutting on costs and bureaucracy.
