Hong Kong's Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) has released recommendations on proposed reforms to Hong Kong's existing anti-discrimination legislation.

The recommendations include:

  • more comprehensive and stronger anti-discrimination protection across the board
  • encouraging institutional changes and addressing systemic inequality
  • more effective application of the legislation and
  • closing gaps  in the existing protection

There is no current implementation timetable for any reforms to be introduced and we expect there to be further consultation before any new legislation is introduced, so any changes are still some way off.
