On 23 August 2012, the new Commodity Classification of Foreign Economic Activity and the new Unified Customs Tariff came into force in the Customs Union (the “Union”). As a result of Russia’s membership of the World Trade Organization, a new list of commodities has been established under which Belarus and Kazakhstan will apply different import customs duties from those of the Unified Customs Tariff of the Union.

We plan to publish more detailed information on this matter in an upcoming Tax Outlook.
