Immigration Minister James Brokenshire announced a number of changes to the visa processing system in India as part of his recent visit to Delhi and Bengaluru. The improvements include:
- launching a new visa application centre (VAC) in Lucknow, Utter Pradesh
- expanding the same day and super-priority visa services to first time visitors and work visa applications
- expanding the three to five day priority visa service to include visit, study and work visa applications.
It was also announced that from the end of February, Indian visitor visa applicants will be able to benefit from a new, quicker and simpler online application form. The new online form will make it easier for individuals who are also applying for a Schengen visa. Once the UK form has been completed, individuals will be able to download an auto-completed Schengen application form.
