Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulation 2014 (draft)

The Regulation is based on Safe Work Australia’s model WHS Regulations for Mines but was influenced by input from the major Australian mining states and the findings of the New Zealand Royal Commission into the November 2010 Pike River Coal Mine methane explosions that killed 29 workers.

Consultation on the draft Regulation closed on 27 June 2014.  NSW Mine Safety will also be seeking comments on a number of draft codes of practice.

The Work Health and Safety (Mines) Act 2013 is scheduled to take effect when the Regulation is proclaimed.
