Benchmade Knife Co., Inc. v. Jonathan Benson Mr. Benson's repeated failures to comply with Judge Haggerty's orders appear to end the dispute between Benchmade and Mr. Benson. On January 5, 2011, Judge Haggerty granted Benchmade's sanctions request and ordered Mr. Benson to pay $2,000 to Benchmade. In the Order [PDF] Judge Haggerty briefly discussed several cases demonstrating that pro se civil litigants are entitled to leeway, but that does not mean completely disregarding a District Court's Local Rules, the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, and the orders of a District Judge. Benchmade is now tasked with presenting a proposed Default Judgment before February 1, 2011. Mr. Benson has an opportunity to object, but is he even listening?
