On 6 March 2015, the EU strengthened sanctions against Syria by adding seven individuals and six entities to its asset freeze and travel ban lists, pursuant to Council Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/375 and Council Implementing Decision (CFSP) 2015/383, which amend Regulation (EU) No 36/2012 and Decision 2013/255/CFSP. In a statement, the European Council said that it reinforced restrictive measures against sponsors of the Syrian regime, as the situation in Syria continues to deteriorate.
