In May 2008 a CEIOPS committee (the Equivalence sub-group of the convergence committee) circulated a questionnaire on the regulatory treatment of third country reinsurance undertakings and on existing equivalence procedures.

The three-part report considers: the treatment of third country reinsurance undertakings; existing equivalence procedures; existing Memoranda of Understanding between third countries and Member STates.

The report highlights the main findings on how different Member States deal with third country reinsurers.
