A consultation process on the reform of the current sale of goods and supply of services legislation in Ireland has been launched by the Sales Law Review Group, chaired by Prof. Robert Clark. The expert group are seeking submissions on the matters which form their terms of reference which are:

  • To review the general sales law provisions of the Sale of Goods Act 1893 and the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act 1980 and to make recommendations for a scheme of legislation capable of providing a statutory sales law framework appropriate to modern-day conditions and needs; and
  • To consider and make recommendations on other matters related to Irish sales law and the common law and statutory framework of that law, including dispute resolution mechanism in Ireland. The Review Group have indicated that views on more specific aspects of Irish sales law may be sought in the future.

The consultation process ends on Friday 15 May 2009.
