On 9 March 2012, the Brazilian Ministries of Development, Industry and International Commerce (MDIC) and Science, Technology and Innovation (MCT) issued Joint Ministerial Ordinance No. 187 (Ordinance) that required all new plasma TVs manufactured in the Free Economic Zone of Manaus (State of Amazonas) to include broadcast interactive applications in accordance with regulations issued by the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT).
