TM5 is a cooperation framework, co-founded by the world top 5 trademark offices, aimed at information exchange regarding affairs related to trademarks/industrial designs and conducting various cooperation activities. The cooperation framework was firstly established in 2001 by the Japan Patent Office (JPO), the EU Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM), and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and then expanded to the present TM5 cooperation framework with JPO, OHIM, USPTO, the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), and the State Administration for Industry & Commerce (SAIC) of the People's Republic of China. Since 2010, TM5 has periodically held several annual trademark conventions.A dedicated website of TM5 was also set up on May 1, 2014.

The sum of the trademark and industrial designapplications filed to the top 5 trademark offices occupies 70 percent of the total amountof that in the world. With the establishment of the TM5 dedicated website, a total of 10 cooperation projects are still under preparation, including listing of names of goods commonly used, establishing trademarks & goods search system, developing patterns/devices search system, comparing and analyzing trademark examination results of various countries, preventing squatting of trademarks in bad faith, comparing necessary drawings for industrial designs in various countries, and so forth.

The TM5 dedicated website is managed by KIPO. In addiction, KIPO is also responsible for the comparison and analysis of trademark examination results coming from various countries.
