In September 2007, the European Commission imposed fines totalling €328.644m on companies involved in cartels in the zip fastener market. Coats Holdings were fined €122.405m, Behring & Söhne €1.123m, Scovill Fasteners €6.002m, Prym Group €40.538m and YKK Group €150.25m. All five companies have brought actions in the Court of First Instance seeking an annulment or reduction of their respective fines on a variety of grounds, including alleged inaccurate assessment of the duration and the gravity of the infringements.
