On 31 October 2014, the Office of Government Procurement (OGP) issued a consultation on the transposition of the new EU Public Procurement Directives into Irish law. The new EU Public Procurement Directives (which replace the existing Directives on Public Procurement and Utilities and introduce a new Directive on Concessions) must be transposed into Irish law by April 2016. For the most part, the provisions of the new Directives are mandatory; however, certain provisions are optional and Member States may choose whether or not they wish to adopt them. It is these optional provisions which are the subject of the current OGP consultation. Submissions are due by Friday 12 December 2014.
