The Government has published three sets of revised draft regulations to implement the new right to shared parental leave under the  Children and Families Act 2014. Two further sets of regulations are awaited. The previous draft  regulations published in March were criticised for being overly complex. The latest drafts do not  contain any major changes but are said to simplify the drafting in some areas and to clarify a few  points of detail. Subject to Parliamentary approval, the scheme will be available in respect of  children due to be born or placed for adoption on or after 5 April 2015. BIS is currently working  on guidance materials for employers and employees to understand and access shared parental leave  and pay and they should be available online in the coming few weeks.
