The Commission closed its investigation into suspected breach of article 101 of the TFEU by certain French water companies SAUR, Suez Environnement/Lyonnaise des Eaux and Veolia, together with their trade association Fédération Professionnelle des Entreprises de l'Eau. The Commission had opened a formal investigation into the suspected breach in January 2012 following dawn raids in 2010. The Commission suspected that the French water companies had coordinated their behavior in a prohibited manner on the French water and waste water markets. Having investigated the matter, the Commission concluded that it had not established any breaches of the competition rules and, therefore, closed the investigation. The Commission stated, however, that it will continue to monitor closely the developments of competition in the market for water and sanitation in France and in other member states.
