Chairman Doc Hastings (R-WA) of the U.S. House Natural Resources Committee introduced three bills today that would encourage offshore exploration and production activities. The measures, if passed, would set firm timelines for the Administration’s consideration of drilling permit applications, require the Obama Administration to conduct offshore lease sales for the Gulf of Mexico and offshore Virginia that were suspended last year, and compel the Administration to move forward on its 2012-2017 offshore lease plan.
