44 groups sent a letter to the House Energy and Commerce Committee October 7, urging members to address the corn ethanol mandate while they review the renewable fuel standard. The groups, which include the Clean Air Task Force and Oxfam America, said the corn-based ethanol requirement has proved detrimental to the livestock and poultry industries, food retailers, and consumers. While other issues like the blend wall and renewable identification numbers also need to be addressed, the problems imposed on the food industry take precedence.
