On 2 June 2014, EIOPA published six consultation papers on its first set of proposed guidelines under the Solvency II Directive (2009/138/EC). The proposed guidelines concern (a) certain Pillar I items (technical provisions, own funds and solvency capital requirements), (b) the use of internal models, (c) systems of governance and own risks and solvency assessment, (d) supervisory review process and (e) the methodology for equivalence assessment of national supervisory authorities.  Additionally, EIOPA has published a consultation on an impact assessment regarding the proposed guidelines (which describes perceived impacts on (re)insurers, policyholders/beneficiaries, supervisors, etc.). Comments are invited by 29 August 2014.  On 12 June 2014, EIOPA also updated its online Q&A regarding its guidelines on submission of information to supervisors under Solvency II. The updates address technical questions submitted to EIOPA regarding proposed quantitative reporting templates and certain errors/inconsistencies in the published templates.
