The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has launched a public consultation on draft guidance issued by the agency’s Panel on Dietetic Products, Nutrition and Allergies (NDA) for manganese dietary reference values for adults, infants and children and pregnant and lactating women. According to NDA, because there was “insufficient evidence available to derive an Average Requirement and a Population Reference Intake,” an Adequate Intake of 3 mg/ day was proposed. The agency will accept comments on the guidance until September 13, 2013.
