The Agency Workers Regulations (2010) come into force on 1 October 2011 and will affect all organisations which employ agency workers.

From 1 October agency workers will be entitled to access to the same basic on site facilities that directly hired workers are entitled to. This will include canteen or other facilities, child care facilities and transport services. They will also be entitled to the same access to information on job vacancies.

For those agency workers who undertake the same job for more than 12 weeks they will also be entitled to the same basic working and employment conditions as directly hired workers. These will include pay, duration of working time, night work, rest periods, rest breaks and annual leave.  It will not include a number of type of payments including  occupational sick pay. maternity, paternity or adoption leave and redundancy payments.
