A report from Emerging Energy Research suggests that minimal progress will be made in the area of CO2 sequestration during 2008. The three primary reasons for the slow progress are the cost of CO2 sequestration, uncertainty concerning GHG emissions regulation and opposition to new coal-based power plants. According to the report, there are 42 global CO2 sequestration projects in development and there are many companies that will face important decisions this year on whether to continue on with their IGCC plants.
