Coinciding with the abolition of contracting-out on a salary-related basis with effect from 6 April 2016, HMRC has published a “bulletin” to remind scheme administrators that HMRC no longer tracks contracted-out rights.

Scheme administrators are no longer obliged to notify HMRC when accrued contracted-out rights are transferred between schemes. HMRC’s bulletin also summarises different sorts of technical problems which trustees and administrators may find useful as they grapple with contracting-out reconciliation.
