On May 31, 2016, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced the launch of a pilot program aimed at protecting the rights of whistleblowers. Modeled after OSHA’s Severe Violator Enforcement Program (SVEP), the Whistleblower-Severe Violator Enforcement Program (W-SVEP) targets employers who "engage in egregious behavior and blatant retaliation against workers who report unsafe working conditions and violations of the law."
