ACAS has published its annual report for the year ending 31 March 2007 detailing the number of Employment Tribunal claims submitted in the past year. The notable aspects of the report included:

  • A fall in the number of Employment Tribunal claims from 109,712 in 2005/06 to 105,177 in 2006/2007.
  • Unfair dismissal continues to be the most common area of dispute, with a total of 44,397 claims in the last year.
  • From 1 October 2006 (when the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations came into force) to 31 March 2007 there were 739 claims which included a claim for age discrimination.
