The FSA has published a joint Discussion Paper with HM Treasury on the Commission’s review of the financial regulatory framework for commodity and exotic derivatives. The Discussion Paper revisits and builds upon the FSA’s and HM Treasury’s earlier responses to the Commission’s Call for Evidence on commodity derivatives. The Discussion Paper discusses the background to the review and its objectives and then provides an analysis of the current market structure, relevant market failures and the current UK regulatory regime. The Discussion Paper concludes with a discussion of possible policy proposals. The deadline for comments on the Discussion Paper is 14 March 2008.
