CLLS has published the minutes of its Corporate Crime and Corruption Committee meeting in June. The meeting included a presentation by Claire Lipworth, FCA Chief Criminal Counsel, discussion of the SFO’s attitude towards a company’s legal advisers being present in interviews with company employees, and money laundering issues related to the sources of funds entering client accounts. Ms Lipworth’s presentation included discussion of FCA’s intention to get involved in cases as early as possible with a view to enforce regulations and then later to supervise those enforcement arrangements rather than pushing immediately for prosecution.
