On January 12, 2007, USCIS launched a new online service which enables USCIS customers to submit change of address information online. The new system will also provide customers with instant confirmation that USCIS has received and updated the change of address information. USCIS believes that this online service will lead to greater efficiency and reduced costs for the agency as it processes over one million change of address requests each year.
All non-citizens in the United States are legally required to inform USCIS of any change of address. In addition, USCIS urges individuals with pending immigration cases to notify USCIS of any address changes to ensure that customers receive information related to their case in a timely manner. Previously, USCIS customers could only inform USCIS of address changes by telephone or by mailing USCIS an Alien Change of Address Card (Form AR-11) , and these options will still be available.
