The UK Information Commissioner's Office ("ICO") has commenced a public consultation on the new anonymisation code of practice. The code will address the need or desire to publish information, whilst respecting the privacy rights of individuals. The code will provide guidance on how information can be successfully anonymised and how to assess the risks of identification. The consultation will be relevant to any organisation that wants to release anonymised data, for example under the government's open data agenda. The deadline for making a submission is 23 August 2012.
