Healthtech opportunities in the NHS

The NHS is ambitious to improve the way technology is used in the NHS, in particular in relation to the use of artificial intelligence (AI). The aim is to move to a model of digitally-enabled care informed by integrated data which will empower patients, support the workforce and improve clinical outcomes. A number of recent initiatives have been launched to support this, including:

  • The establishment of NHSX, bringing together teams from across the NHS to drive digital transformation and lead policy and implementation.
  • The creation of the NHS AI lab, which will be run collaboratively by NHSX and the Accelerated Access Collaborative to accelerate adoption of proven AI technologies.
  • The recent launch of the new GP IT Futures framework by NHS Digital, which will allow GPs to access a digital marketplace of 70 suppliers.
