On June 20, 2013, the U.S. International Trade Commission issued a press release announcing their vote to institute an investigation of Certain Portable Electronic Communications Devices, Including Mobile Phones and Components Thereof (Inv. No. 337-TA-885).
The investigation is based on a May 23, 2013 complaint and June 12, 2013 letter supplementing the complaint filed by Nokia Corporation of Finland and Nokia Inc. of Sunnyvale, California alleging violation of Section 337 in the importation into the U.S. and sale of certain portable electronic communications devices, including mobile phones and components thereof that infringe one more claims of U.S. Patent Nos. 6,035,189; 6,373,345; 6,711,211; 7,187,945; 8,140,650; and 8,363,824. According to the Notice of Investigation, the Commission has identified HTC Corporation of Taiwan and HTC America, Inc. of Bellevue, Washington as the respondents in this investigation. The Notice of Investigation further indicates that the Office of Unfair Import Investigations will not participate as a party in this Investigation.
