The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded a $1.4 million grant to Montana State University, Montana Tech, and the University of Montana for carbon capture and storage research. During the first part of the study, researchers will examine the pore structure of the formations into which CO2 is injected, as well as the stability of the CO2. The second piece of the project will study the impact of the storage on the environment surrounding the storage site.
