Legal interstate Internet gambling is finally here ‒ albeit in a very limited fashion. Last week, Delaware and Nevada signed a Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (the first of its kind) that will allow players in the states to play Internet poker against each other. Although the Agreement authorizes only online poker at this time, it has provisions in place that would allow the states to expand it to other games, and also to include other states. New Jersey has also legalized Internet gambling for people within its borders; it will be taking a close look at how its sister states’ interstate compact is working. If the experiment succeeds, other states may soon follow suit.
