On 29 September 2010, the Commission approved a €21.4 million public funding scheme for Dutch company Mapper to develop new semiconductor manufacturing technology. The Commission found the aid to be compatible with the EU framework of State Aid for research, development and innovation. Commission Vice-President in charge of competition policy Joaquín Almunia said that the project “shows how R&D State-aid rules can help innovate and efficient SME’s to overcome difficulties in accessing venture capital and bring ideas to the market.” Click here for more information.
