The U.S. Department of State (DOS) recently released its February 2008 Visa Bulletin. The Visa Bulletin slightly advances some of the employment-based immigrant visa categories. However, as predicted in the January 2008 Visa Bulletin, the EB-2 Indian national visa category has become unavailable. In the past three months, the EB-2 Indian national visa category had retrogressed by more than four years. In the January 2008 Visa Bulletin, the DOS retrogressed the EB-2 Indian national category to January 1, 2000. However, this did not prove to be sufficient. The demand for numbers by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services continued to remain high. Consequently, the EB-2 Indian national category has now become Unavailable through the end of the fiscal year 2008 (September 30, 2008).
The following is a comparison of various employment-based immigrant visa categories since the beginning of the current retrogression in October 2005
