IPO announced on Sep. 18, 2013 that it has established the “Cross-Strait Copyright Intervention and Assistance Scheme” pursuant to the “Cross-Strait Intellectual Property Right Protection Cooperation Agreement.”  Under the scheme, a Taiwan citizen or company whose copyright is infringed in the PRC may submit relevant evidence to the IPO and request the IPO’s intervention and assistance if, after seeking remedies in the PRC pursuant to the PRC’s laws or regulations (such as filing complaints with the PRC’s competent authority for copyright matters or applying for assistance to protect its rights), one receives unreasonable or unfair treatment or the PRC’s competent authority violates legal principles which are applicable under PRC laws.
