On September 13, 2011, the U.S. International Trade Commission issued a press release announcing that it voted to institute an investigation of Certain Digital Televisions Containing Integrated Circuit Devices and Components Thereof (Inv. No. 337-TA-806).

The investigation is based on an August 12, 2011 complaint and September 1 and 6, 2011 letters supplementing the complaint filed by Renesas Electronics Corporation of Japan and 511 Technologies, Inc. of Marshall, Texas alleging violation of Section 337 in the importation into the U.S. and sale of certain digital televisions containing integrated circuit devices and components thereof that infringe certain claims of U.S. Patent Nos. 7,199,432 and 6,531,400.  See our August 15, 2011 post for more details.

According to the Notice of Investigation, the ITC has identified Vizio, Inc. of Irvine, California  as the sole respondent in this investigation.

In addition, acting Chief ALJ Charles E. Bullock issued a notice indicating that he will be the presiding Administrative Law Judge in this investigation.
