On December 16th, 2019 the Council of Representatives of the National Committee for Minimum Wages ("CONASAMI" for its acronym in Spanish), approved an increase of 20% to the current general minimum wage ($102.68 MXN).

This is a result of a 5% direct increase to the minimum wage plus an amount of $14.76 MXN for the Independent Recovery Amount (“MIR” for its acronym in Spanish), as occurred during past years. Whereas the Northern Border Free Zone only had an increase of 5% without any MIR.

Once the modifications are published in the Official Gazette of the Federation, the general minimum wage as of January 1st, 2020, will be $123.22 MXN and the minimum wage in the Northern Border Free Zone will be $185.56 MXN.
