CEBS held a consultation until 8 November 2010 on its "Guidelines on Remuneration Policies and Practices". These guidelines are based on article 22 of the Capital Requirements Directive III ("CRD III"), which Directive provides that organisations must ensure that their remuneration policy is in line with their organisational structure and promotes sound and effective risk management. The objective of the guidelines is to achieve/facilitate compliance with the remuneration principles as set out in Annex V of CRD III. Different from CRD III, the guidelines relate not only to remuneration policy at a high level in a financial organisation, but also to the (day-to-day) process of remuneration decisions and procedures for implementation of the policy. The definitive guidelines are expected to enter into force at the same time as CRD III (31 December 2011).
