Employers are planning to take advantage of the 1 July ban on smoking in the workplace in England to crack down on cigarette breaks, according to research by information provider Consult GEE.

Consult GEE surveyed 257 employers. 36% of the employers interviewed stated that they were using the ban as an impetus to stop smoking breaks altogether during the working day. In addition, 70% of those surveyed indicated that they intended to stop employees from smoking at the front of their premises.
