Industry members warn that the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) “hold-up” will damage investment into the ground source heat pump. The RHI was originally scheduled for April 2011. However, this was delayed until June. On 20 January, Climate Change Minister, Greg Barker, would not provide a date for the introduction of the RHI, but said it would be “later this year”. Some in the industry believe it is essential that implementation occurs as soon as possible as it both shortens payback time for installation and will assist the UK in the 2020 energy targets.
