The FTC has issued guidelines for employment background screening. The guidelines are designated for consumer reporting agency and outline the requirements that employment background screening companies face under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ("FCRA"), including their requirements in dealing with their clients and how they interact with consumers.

The new FTC guidelines demonstrate the regulatory focus of the FTC on this issue. Accordingly, we will be glad to provide further advice and recommendations in this regard, to ensure compliance with the applicable guidelines in order to mitigate the risk of not meeting these requirements
