The Employment (Amendment No. 5) (Jersey) Law 2010 has been registered in the Royal Court and will come into force on a date to be appointed by the States of Jersey. The Law will amend the Employment (Jersey) Law 2003 to establish a right to a redundancy payment equivalent to one week's wages per year of employment (subject to a cap and certain conditions) for those employees who have completed at least two years' continuous employment with the employer. It also sets out detailed new consultation obligations to apply in redundancy situations and makes a number of other changes.
