Following Tullow Oil Plc’s recent discovery of oil offshore Ghana, the company recently announced that it has received formal approval from the Government of Ghana for phase one of the Jubilee field development plan. Work on the field commenced in July 2008 and is on track to deliver first oil in the second half of 2010. Tullow’s initial equity interest in the Jubilee unit area which the company will operate is approximately 34.7 per cent. Other present partner interests are Kosmos Energy, Anadarko Petroleum, Sabre Oil & Gas, EO Group and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC). It is however reported that Kosmos Energy is planning to sell its stake in the field.
