The European Environment Agency published a study October 11 concluding that European Union countries are starting to move beyond classical environmental policies to integrated “resource-efficiency policies” that aim to manage the environmental impact of the economy as a whole. The report, Resource Efficiency in Europe: Policies and Approaches in 31 EEA Member and Cooperating Countries, finds that the advantage of a more integrated approach is that it unites environmental, economic, and social concerns toward one shared goal.
