The Government has recently asked the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) to consider the issue of a 'minimum salary threshold' for tier 2 migrants. The MAC is now calling for evidence on this issue and information can be found here.

Under the existing system, employers can include allowances paid to their sponsored staff when calculating the salary level for tier 2 purposes. If the proposed restrictions bring an end to this practice this is likely to have a significant impact on businesses that sponsor migrants under tier 2 intra-company transfer (ICT).

Other matters considered in the MAC's call for evidence include lowering the current annual limit on certificates of sponsorship and increasing the base skill level for tier 2 migrants. Businesses are encouraged to take part in the MAC's call for evidence and please contact us if we can provide assistance to you in preparing your evidence.
