According to a press release published on 19 May 2014 by the Government of Luxembourg, Michel Sapin and Pierre Gramegna, the Ministers of Finance of respectively France and Luxembourg have agreed during a meeting held on 16 May 2014 to "accelerate the works aiming at concluding an amendment" to the Luxembourg French tax treaty dated 1st April 1958. There is no further precision concerning the content of the negotiations but the French Minister of Finance has congratulated Luxembourg for its efforts in terms of automatic exchange of information in tax matters and it has been agreed that France and Luxembourg will consult each other on a regular and high-level manner on transparency and exchanges of information in tax matters in particular during the next forum to be held in that respect.
