The Investigation was initiated at the application of OneSteel.

The Investigation affects exports of steel reinforcing bar (steel rebar) from a number of countries including Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand and Turkey. There have already been other dumping Investigations on steel rebar in Canada, Malaysia and the US.

Those who listened in on the recent CBFCA CPD on dumping and countervailing practices would recall that I had referred to the potential of such an Investigation being initiated in the future. Well, it is here now.

I would suggest, at least, that those readers affected (exporters, importers of service providers here or in the countries affected) should take note of the Investigation and take steps to defend the allegations of dumping.

This is the next step in the large number of actions affecting steel products and those used in the construction industries.

I have been involved in a number of Investigations over the years including the various aluminium and steel Investigations and the current Investigations into alleged dumping of deep drawn stainless steel sinks and power transformers.

I would be delighted to assist.
