The Ohio Association of Nonprofit Organizations (OANO) has announced a deadline of February 20, 2009, for applications for the Ohio Nonprofit Excellence Award. The Award recognizes creativity, execution, achievement and overall excellence of a specific project or program completed by an Ohio nonprofit the previous year. Awards are open to any 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Ohio, and there is no fee to apply. There are six different awards available, two for each region of the state (Northern, Central, Southern), one of which is for small to mid-size nonprofits (operating budgets not exceeding $1 million) and the other of which is for large nonprofits (operating budgets over $1 million).
Award finalists will be recognized at a luncheon in their honor at the Ohio Statehouse on May 12, 2009, and winners will be announced at the luncheon. Award applications are available on the OANO website: www.oano.org; by phone at 614-280-0233 or 888-480-6266; or by emailing [email protected]. Applications, which must be postmarked by February 20, are welcome from small-, medium- and large-sized groups as well as newer or well-established organizations. In reviewing applications, evaluators will consider both the human and financial resources of the resources of the applicants.
The application is a one-part process that will address important details such as measurable outcomes, budget numbers and use of resources. More than 100 organizations from across the state submitted applications last year. Winning organizations will receive a stipend to further their programs or services, among other prizes.
