Today, Treasury Secretary Geithner released a statement on the Presidential Task Force on the Auto Industry. In the wake of the emergence of both General Motors and Chrysler from bankruptcy, Geithner praised the efforts of Steven Rattner and Ron Bloom in the restructuring processes. Rattner will step down from his position at the Task Force, and Bloom will assume a leadership position as the Task Force transitions “away from day-to-day restructuring to monitoring … and protecting the substantial investment the American taxpayers have made” in the companies.
